Organizational Mark

The Country Programming Framework (CPF) is the agreement between FAO and the Government that establishes the Organization’s areas of collaboration with Guatemala. It is a planning and programming document that defines the national priorities that FAO will address through country-level actions within the scope of its strategic frameworks. These priorities aim to ensure FAO’s comparative advantages in contributing to the achievement of the goals set out in State policy instruments such as the K’atún Nuestra Guatemala 2032 National Development Plan (CONADUR-SEGEPLAN, 2014), the National Development Priorities (SEGEPLAN, 2016), the General Government Policy 2020-2024, as well as the United Nations Cooperation Framework for the Sustainable Development of Guatemala (MC) and the 2030 Agenda, which directly contributes to the three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) highlighted in FAO’s new Strategic Framework 2022-20311: SDG1 (no poverty), SDG2 (zero hunger) and SDG10 (reduced inequalities).

The CPF for the 2022-2025 period includes three outcomes and 11 outputs corresponding to three programmatic areas: 1) More productive, prosperous, and inclusive territories for a better life; 2) Food security and improved nutrition; and 3) Resilience and a better environment. These areas are aligned with the CPF and the new FAO Strategic Framework 2022-2031, which promotes accelerating progress towards the 2030 Agenda through four outcomes: improved production, improved nutrition, a better environment, and a better life without leaving anyone behind.

Hierarchical dependence

The Specialist will work under the supervision of the Assistant Representative (Program).

Field of specialization

The Specialist will provide technical assistance to the different projects of the FAO field program in relation to the preparation of technical documents, selection of genetic lines based on the production of poultry and other livestock species of interest for projects focused on the improvement of family production systems in order to implement initiatives that guarantee the improvement of production, food security, and increased efficiency in the use of resources intended for livestock production.

Tasks and responsibilities

Support FAO representation in the preparation of concept notes and project proposals related to livestock production and public health.
Support the technical teams of the various FAO field program projects by providing technical assistance as required in the preparation of technical sheets, work plans, and requirements for animals, inputs, and livestock production materials, in order to make timely purchases.
Support and assist the members of the commodity committees in the award of funds, animal and animal materials to improve and implement the various FAO projects.

Support the evaluation processes for poultry and livestock products, ensuring that they meet established standards, in relation to the allocation of livestock inputs to maximize family production.
Contribute to developing a poultry production infrastructure design for small-scale producers based on available community resources.
Bring technical assistance and support to project field teams in the implementation of small projects from inbound reception logistics until commercialization.
Provide technical support to projects that develop sustainable livestock activities with the aim of strengthening, demonstrating, and promoting the implementation of these activities.
The sequence and technical support on earth relates to the activities related to the industry, handling and production of fish, fish and livestock. This includes power control, productivity cycle, reproduction, and health.
Contribute to the disaster and the implementation of prevention protocols, early detection, safe productive systems and value locks contributing to food and nutritional security.
Design a general program of development of knowledge and technical assistance (influencing the themes of sanitation, nutrition, installations, reproduction, commercialization) directed by the small management directed to people of field projects, implementing partners, counterparts, promoters and participating families in projects with small details.

Technically support CAM projects with the determination of the value of the consumption of oil, meat and derivatives
Support the techniques of various projects in technical capacity events insofar as the handling of specific species of interest is concerned.
Support technical training with interested parties (FAO, MAGA and other partners) with skills, heights, field methodology and adequate use of materials and personal protection equipment, for the development of capabilities in biosafety and biocustody topics, which addresses prevention, mitigation and Responsibility for enclosures of animals of livestock interest
Facilitate the creation of profiling plans for the small initiatives implemented in the different projects of the FAO field program.
Develop andragogical material for the technical strengthening of the management of laying and fattening birds, Sustainable Livestock and other species of zootechnical interest
THE CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

Minimum requirements

Professional with a university degree in animal husbandry, veterinary medicine or Finnish courses
We have five years of relevant experience in topics related to livestock and poultry production
Practical understanding of Spanish
Guatemalan Nationality or resident in the country with regular employment permit

Basic level of English language, level A
Increased awareness of the country and particularity of the agricultural sector
Minimum experience of 3 to promote capacity building processes.
From preference to working experience in United Nations System Agencies or other international organization
Experience in the application of gene and indigenous populations
