Job Description

The Communication Unit of UN Women Guatemala is a transversal area, which supports and supports technical aspects of programs, projects, and activities of the Office for disclosure, brand presence, graphic design, social media presence and implementation of the policy strategy. communication.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Country Representative, the Communication Association is responsible for:
Provide coordination support in the development of a Country Office communications strategy;
Provide coordination support for the development of the Country Office’s communication materials;
Provide support for the management of the presence of the Country Office in social networks and on the web site;
Provide support in matters of relations with the communication media of the Country Office;
Facilitate management and interchange of connections.
The Communications Associate will support the coordination of the Communications Unit and work closely with the Area Coordinators to ensure the effective implementation of the Country Office’s communications plans and any projects requiring support.
Scope of Work
Provide coordination support in the development of a Country Office communications and advocacy strategy:
Provide information for the development of the Country Office’s communications strategy.
Provide support for promotional efforts and campaigns by organizing roundtables, press conferences, and other publicity events, and by providing informational materials and press releases.
Provide support to program staff and other members of the Country Office on UN Women corporate communication guidelines and printing standards.
Monitoring and controlling print and social media communication of relevant information.
Provide coordination support for the development of Country Office promotional materials:
Identify stories and achievements within the Country Office for online and print publications.
Write press releases, articles, key messages, and other promotional materials.
Coordinate the translation, adaptation, or rewriting of information received for the local context.
Disseminate materials to relevant stakeholders.
Coordinate the publication of materials for final approval.
Maintain the library/database with reference materials, photos, and digital assets.
Follow the guidelines of the Regional Office and Headquarters.
Provide support in managing the Country Office’s presence on social media and the website:
Identify stories and contribute to the development and updating of content for the UN Women website and social media channels, ensuring brand consistency.
Collect and analyze information, and prepare reports on statistics and electronic surveys, as needed.
Maintain files, databases, and systems related to the Country Office’s digital presence.
Provide support to the Country Office in media relations:
Serve as a focal point for UN Women activities open to the press, as needed.
Maintain and update the database of relevant presses in the country.
Respond to requests for information and arrange interviews, as delegated.
Provide noun input to the topics of discussion.
Facilitate knowledge management and sharing:
Contribute to the identification of best practices and lessons learned.
Organize training and workshops on communication practices.
Provide/exchange information with Headquarters and the Regional Office as needed.
The holder also does not have other functions within its functional profile which are necessary for the efficient operation of the Country Office.

Minimum Requirements
This convocation is directed to national persons, where their legal residence is valid at the time of application.
Education and Certifications:
Closed curriculum in Communication Sciences, Journalism or related disciplines.
A degree in Communication Sciences, Journalism or related disciplines is considered an added value.
Desirable specialization in all these areas: visual communication, graphic design, photography, radial production, video and use of electronic applications.
Experience:
With less than 6 years of progressive responsibility experience in providing support for the formulation and application of internal and external communication strategies.
Minimum 2 years of experience in design and implementation of digital campaigns, in the management of social rights and in the generation of graphic materials and audiovisual applications.
Previous experience leading actions that promote social issues, human rights, and/or women’s rights and gender equality will be valued.
Previous experience with the United Nations System / other international organizations will be considered an aggregate value.
Requires experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.), especially in programs editing and audiovisual design, as well as experience in handling web-based management systems.
Languages
Spanish proficiency is mandatory.
English proficiency is undesirable.
