Job Description

Context / Context

Under the general supervision of the Mission (CoM) and the direct supervision of the National Operative Office, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following functions and responsibilities in the area of ​​the Assistance Project for Returning Volunteers Informed, Seguros and Dignos Protection of Migrants in Vulnerability Situations in the Americas, in Guatemala City.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and the direct supervision of the National Operations Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities in relation to the Assistance for Informed, Safe and Dignified Voluntary Returns and Protection of Migrants in Vulnerable Situations in the Americas in Guatemala City.

Responsibilities

Carry out weekly lock-up activities in the hotel where the beneficiaries are assured, ensuring that they are receiving stable medications, including:Medical examinations, like the toma of vital signs – Medical interviews a) Treatment and derivations b) Procedures for health and medical movements c) Documentation, certification and transmission of information d) Other technical areas that are required
Brindar consults before and/or after medical attention to migrants for education, prevention and handling of tuberculosis (TB) or HIV, it corresponds.

Contribuir to the interview process and determination of eligibility for medical cases, based on the criteria established by the Program.
Prepare administrative and program updates as necessary, as well as maintain statistical updates on confinements or pathologies that are more common among beneficiaries.
Complete the medical case approval process, in coordination with the regional specialist and in compliance with the internal instructions of the Organization.

Manage and maintain the medical record in the MiMOSA system, according to the instructions.
Assist in the pre-shipment check, review of documents, informative sessions and already prepared, as required.
Carry out medical support functions when required, to ensure that migrants receive their attention during all stages of the migration process (before the safety, during the journey and in the final destination).
Maintain collaborative relationships with diverse socios to facilitate the flow and interchange of relevant information. These socios can include internal departments of the IOM, health providers, medical panelists, embajadas, other UN agencies, NGOs, among others.
Brindare educates and advises patients on the handling of their health conditions and the prevention of complications.
Carry out other functions that Sean has assigned.

a) Treatment and referrals b) Pre-departure procedures and medical movements c) Documentation, certification and information transmission; and, d) Other technical areas as may be required.

2. Provide pre and/or post counseling to migrants on TB or HIV education, prevention and management as appropriate. 3. Contribute to the interview and eligibility process for medical cases based on the Program’s eligibility criteria. 4. Prepare administrative reports and program updates as necessary, as well as keeping updated statistics on the most frequent diseases or pathologies among the beneficiaries. 5. Carry out the process of requesting approval of medical cases in coordination with the regional specialist and based on the internal instructions of the Organization. 6. Manage and maintain the MiMOSA medical area registry, as appropriate.

7. Assist with pre-embarkation check, documents, briefings and preparations as necessary. 8. Perform medical escort duties when required to ensure migrants receive continued care throughout all phases of migration (before departure, during the journey and at the final destination). 9. Maintain collaborative relationships with various partners to facilitate the follow up and relevant information sharing. Partners include internal IOM departments, other health providers, panel physicians, embassies other UN agencies or NGO’s and others as applicable. 10. Provide education and counseling to patients on managing their condition and preventing complications. 11. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Education

Titulo en Fermería otorgado by an academic institution accredited in countries with a diploma allowed to fully exercise the responsibilities defined in the description of the puesto, with a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience and with a valid license to ejercer the enfermería in the country of assignment.
Nursing degree from an accredited academic institution in countries where the Diploma allows to fulfill the full scope of responsibilities defined in PDs with a minimum of three years relevant clinical experience and a valid license to practice nursing in the country of duty station.

Experience

Excellent technical skills, including flebotomía.
Se valorará training or labor experience in the areas of tuberculosis, mass immunization campaigns, transmissible confinements, laboratory trials or public health.
Knowledge and experience in clinical confinement.
Excellent direct work skills with the patient.
Understanding the principles of preventive attention and control of enclosures.

Requires computer handling, including the MS Office package (Word, Excel, Access).
Excellent technical skills, including in phlebotomy.
Training or working experience in the areas of Tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing or public health is an advantage.
Knowledge of and experience in clinical nursing.
Excellent bedside manners.
Knowledge of principles of preventive care and disease control.
Knowledge of and experience in implementation of patient safety and infection prevention and control.
