Context
In order to support governments in addressing today’s complex migration and border management challenges, the Migration and Border Governance Division (IBG) of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has developed a border management information system: the Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS). MIDAS is a border management system that enables States to collect, process, store, and analyze traveler information collected at borders. Other modules, such as the Foreigners Registration Module and the electronic visa (e-visa) module, can support regularization programs and facilitate visa processing and issuance, respectively.
Several Latin American countries have requested IOM to implement the MIDAS system. These include Paraguay, Ecuador, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, and Belize. More recently, the governments of Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Suriname have also formally requested IOM support in implementing the system in their respective countries.
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission in Guatemala, and in coordination with the IBG RTS in the Panama Regional Office and the MIDAS Team at Headquarters, the selected individual will be responsible for providing technical support for the implementation of the MIDAS system in the various countries of the region.
